No food is a magic cure, but eating a healthy, balanced diet filled with vitamins and minerals that support your immune system can boost your immunity! A boosted immune system can help prevent illness and help you bounce back stronger when you do get sick.

Fatty Fish

Omega-3 fats are your best friend in terms of keeping your immune system in good shape. Fatty fish are also a good anti-inflammatory, so try adding these into your diet:

  • Salmon

  • Trout

  • Herring

  • Sardines

Citrus Fruits

Citrus fruits are a great source of vitamin C, which may prevent or shorten illnesses by promoting immune cell function. Add some of these into your diet:

  • Oranges

  • Lemons

  • Grapefruits

Ginger

Ginger is all the rage in terms of health benefits, it’s well known for its antioxidant properties. It also contains vitamin C, magnesium and potassium, which are needed to fight infection. It has been shown to ease inflammation and nausea too!

Broccoli

Eat your greens and you’ll grow to be big and strong! Right? Our parents might have just been onto something there. Broccoli is full of vitamin A, C and E, as well as being a great source of fibre, and its antioxidant properties have been shown to protect your immune system.

Yoghurt

You’ve heard of probiotics and how they’re necessary to keep a healthy gut. Well, yoghurt is full of them! Studies have shown that the gut microbiome is linked to your immune system and they work together to keep you healthy. So grab some yoghurt! Greek yoghurt should be your go-to because it doesn’t contain any artificial ingredients or added sugars.

Almonds

A wonder nut, if you will. They’re a healthy snack and they’re tasty, but they can also help to fight off infections. Almond contains vitamin E and it’s also a healthy fat! Both of which contribute to protecting and boosting your immune system.
